Public safety and safe communities are a top priority for Ken Brennan. As State Representative, Ken will advocate for additional funding, resources, and training for New Mexico police officers. As Edgewood’s mayor, Ken has been a strong ally to local and state law enforcement officers who risk their lives to serve and protect. With Albuquerque starting to sprawl into neighboring communities, a rising population is bringing crime to once-quiet neighborhoods. In Santa Fe, Ken will make sure law enforcement throughout the 50th District has the tools, resources, and training they need to keep our communities safe.
A Navy veteran, Ken understands the challenges many veterans face once they leave the service. Ken believes our service members sacrifice so much for America that it’s our duty to take care of them after their service. In Santa Fe, Ken will fight for additional mental health and retirement benefits for New Mexico’s veteran and active-duty military communities. New Mexico’s homeless veteran population is continuing to grow, and Ken is making it his mission to ensure these brave men and women who risked their lives to defend our freedom have the tools necessary to ensure their transition from service to civilian is as seamless and successful as possible.
Record-high inflation and worsening economic conditions are the biggest issues facing New Mexicans across the state. A successful business leader, Ken understands the issues impacting Main Street and everyday New Mexicans. In Santa Fe, Ken will fight to cut taxes and government regulations to enable small businesses to reinvest in communities through job creation and expansion.
For too long, rural healthcare has been an afterthought in Santa Fe. Access to quality, affordable healthcare is vital to every New Mexican family. In Santa Fe, Ken will work to lower drug prices, allow insurance to be sold across state lines, and cut through red tape to modernize the way we deliver health care. Ken will make it a priority to establish 24-7 urgent care and emergency medical services to Southern Santa Fe County and the East Mountains area. By providing patients more choices in healthcare we can ensure that providers drive prices of drugs and treatments down. It’s time to return decision-making to families and their doctors.
When it comes to producing results for his fellow citizens Ken takes charge!
Despite not being in his district, Ken Brennan promptly addressed safety concerns raised by constituents. Recognizing the hazards posed by the blind curve on Edgewood 7 RD, Ken initiated the installation of safety markers and is currently securing funding for a guard rail.
Additionally, Ken identified the risk at the Horton RD bridge over Bachelor's Draw and secured funding for a pedestrian bridge from a GO Bond. Pending bond approval, the installation is targeted for December this year.
From internet access to road construction, infrastructure is one issue that is on the mind of every New Mexican. Safer roads, better schools, and access to clean water are necessary to support growth in the 50th District. As the Mayor of Edgewood, Ken helped secure significant funding for road improvements and is actively pursuing millions more. He will bring this same fight to Santa Fe to ensure communities throughout the 50th District have the resources they need to invest and improve critical infrastructure so they can unlock economic freedom and educational opportunities for their children.
As your State Representative, Ken will fight to protect and defend our constitutional rights from the overbearing arm of government. From our First Amendment right to free speech to our Second Amendment right to bear arms, Ken is a fighter New Mexico needs. A strong supporter of the Second Amendment, Ken has been awarded an AQ rating from the National Rifle Association and will continue to defend New Mexicans' right to bear arms in Santa Fe.
